Trullo Badessa stands in the centre of three and a half acres of open countryside with giant olive trees as tall as mature oaks naturally delineating the property’s boundaries. Other trees - figs, almonds, quinces, walnuts and prickly pears all bear their seasonal fruits and in the spring the fields come alive with the myriad colours of over fifty varieties of wild orchids.

The layout of the house is both comfortable and practical: In the trullo itself where you’ll find coned ceilings and white stone arches, there is a well equipped kitchen (with cooking hobs, an oven and a dishwasher), a dining area, a winter snug with wood stove and a bathroom with shower and bath. In the lamia which has a traditional vaulted ceiling there are three bedrooms (one double and two twins), a second bathroom with shower and a spacious and light sitting room with a beautiful stone fireplace. Both twin beds can easily be made into double two double beds.

The sitting room which also has a double sofa bed for groups of 8, leads out under the covered pergola providing an area for eating ‘al fresco’ and beyond that is the 'aia' where grain used to be beaten and where we have installed a pool - 8 metres x 4 metres.

Should you be tempted by a trip to the beach there are a number of choices all within a 15 to 20 minute radius. Some of the beaches have free access, but if you prefer somewhere more organised with covered parking, a bar/restaurant where simple meals can be produced at lunch time, changing rooms etc… there are a number we can suggest to you. It generally costs €4 per day for the covered parking. The added hire of an umbrella or sun bed is usually €3 or €4 per piece.

Within a 45 minute radius you can also take your pick of the area’s most famous towns to visit - Alberobello 45 mins, Cisternino 20 mins, Ceglie Messapica 20 mins, Fasano 20 mins, Locorotondo 30 mins, Martina Franca 30 mins - but at a distance of just under ten minutes you’ll find yourself in the heart of Ostuni, a town with a suggestive, Moorish influence also known as the Citta’ Bianca (the White City). Ostuni has a wonderful selection of shops and excellent restaurants as do most of the towns in the Valle d'Itria. The Pugliese in general are widely known for their fine wines and superb cooking skills.

On your arrival at the house you will find a welcome package awaiting you with all the basics for your first evening and morning in the house, but if there is anything specific you would like us to buy on your behalf, please do send us your shopping list.

We consider Trullo Badessa a magical, fairy tale like place in which to relax and be charmed. Unfortunately the demands of work don’t allow us to visit it as often as we’d like and for this reason, in the sincere hope that it will bring as much pleasure to others as it does to us, this year we have decided to rent it out for the first time.

For groups of 7 or 8 people an extra €200,00 per week would be requested.
